Tim Dunning, tasked the class with creating a 5 - 10 minute pitch in which each film group had to explain the plot of the story, the pre production of the project and the intentions of their production.
It was explained to the students that 20% of Semester One is through a pitch which each production team must present in front of the class. It had to be less than 10 minutes which breaks down to 2 1/2 minutes for each member of the team.

The Pitch - Powerpoint Presentation
The pitch had four main strands to it and these were in correlation with our job roles. As the cinematographer, Kathryn Pogue was given the element around research of cinematography in films and the style which the team hoped to achieve in the film, ' The Call'. Kathryn discussed with Director, Niamh what the look of the film and it was decided between them that the style of the film would be similar to the following films and television programmes. This is explained on the page Cinematography Research.
The cinematographer throughout the presentation also showed the audience a test shoot which had been done the week before. The link to the clip can be seen below. It was identified that the white balance for this shoot hadn't been correctly shot, although in terms of lighting the director and the cinematographer felt that if the light source from the torch was held steady on a tripod then this set up would work well.
It was also noticed by Zen Quinn, the sound designer and editor that there is a surplus of noise which will make the grade of the film difficult. Kathryn decided that the group would check the shot before hand as a team and together would ensure it met the needs of all three parties.

Reflection
Overall the production team felt that the pitch went well. The presentation covered all the vital points and sold the project well. In reflection in terms of the personal skillset of Kathryn. It was felt that she felt that she spoke too fast and that her vocals were not loud enough, If she was to do this again she would ensure to have practised her parts more and ensured she was calmer before presenting, she would also ensure that she projected her voice across the room better through standing up straight and having better posture and confidence when public speaking.
In terms of the information given, Kathryn gave a large amount of detail around the cinematographic focus was and the aim in which the team hope to achieve.
