Location Hunting

The team looked at several locations for the film thinking about where would be the most accessible, cinematic and logistical. Originally the team had thought about using the halls of residence for the hotel room but it was decided and voted against as the requirement for the room wasn't posh enough and in the film it had to be believable that he was a millionaire.

The team then looked into other opportunities for locations and decided on using Tavelodge, Stafford Central. Looking at the location, it seemed posh if the signs were removed and suited the character well. The entire team together decided this was the perfect location for the Hotel Room.

Looking around for the park was quite difficult as originally in the script it was stated that the park was opposite the park, the team were immediately looking for some way they could find that in real life. It was then found that a part of Victoria Park has a swingset in it directly opposite the college building which looks like a fancy hotel. This was the original location which the team had looked at.

As the scene is set in the evening though the group found problems as the park shuts at 4:30pm each night and this meant that filming would be halted at that time. So the team searched for another location, within the park they found that there was a park bench which overlooked the river and had two strong lightings points near it. Niamh and Kathryn felt this would be a strong location for the scene and it was then changed from being on a swing set to a bench within the script.

For the final location, there were not many options open to the team, so the idea was to see what they had around them and it became obvious that the university might have something applicable. Looking around the university it was found there were a lot of options, the students union reception, the Lounge and Legends reception and the Ruxton Building reception. The team looked at the options and in terms of the style which would match the exterior shot of the college it was decided that the Ruxton building reception would work best.
