The Editing Process

There were five different sections within the editing process which occurred. The first of which was the rough edit which was done in Avid.

Avid - First Rough Cut

To begin the post production of the film, the team decided to make a rough cut of the film to see how it cut together. Here are a few screen shots from this stage.

As the editing process happened, Kathryn took notes of what hapenned and which shots were used where on the script. Here is a scan of the first three pages. On the page it was marked where the shot changed and how long on screen each page was.

Davinci - Colour Grade

Zen then put the footage into Davinci in which he added a colour grade. Zen and Niamh discussed having a very pale white grade and this was the look taken. Here are a few screenshots.

After Effects

The team then put the project through after effects where it the film was tightened together. Here are a few screen shots.

Audition - Sound Editing

After using After Effects, Zen then put the file into Adobe Audition where he did the sound editing for the film and synced up the audio and the video and took out the reverb. He then bounced the footage to put back into Avid once more.

Avid - Final Render

Here is the final screen shots of the editing process. Cutting it together, adding a colour grade and tightening up the colour grade, then adding an audio track to finish with a final piece.

The editing process went well. Having all four members of crew in the room during the edit helped as it brought new ideas to the floor. If the team were to do it again they would ensure the logging process was kept better.
